Alvaro Quiros produced a shot of the season contender to help set up a commanding lead heading into the final round of the Rocco Forte Open.
The Spaniard, chasing a first European Tour title since 2011, held a two-shot advantage heading into the weekend before extending his cushion to five strokes during a day of difficult scoring in Sicily.
Quiros was just one of seven players to break par in strong winds gusting up to 30mph, with one effort standing out from his one-under 70.
The six-time European Tour winner mixed five birdies and four bogeys during his round at Vendura Golf Club, where he saved par in dramatic fashion at the par-four 18th.
Quiros found the bunker of the tee and flew his second way over the back of the green, where he then delivered an incredible pitch over a television tower from a cart path to leave a certain par.
