Ewen Murray reviews the best of the action from the second round of the US Open and looks ahead to the weekend at Erin Hills.
The thrill of this year's US Open is that the winner could come from anywhere and anyone who has made the cut has a chance.
I think what would surprise many is that seven under was leading after 18 holes and still leads through 36. I think the USGA will be very happy about that.
The cut is at one over, which again I think is a fair reflection of how they have set the course up. There are the four players on seven under which have the nervous sleep on the lead, with those a few shots back thinking about going out and making a fast start.
I think it's a shock to see so many of the world's top players struggle this week at Erin Hills. Rory McIlroy hasn't played a lot this year but came into this mentally fresh, so I thought he would do better than he has done.
Only four of the world's top 10 have made it through to the weekend, but all of them are in contention. That includes Sergio Garcia, who has been impressive over the first two days.
Butch Harmon reckons seven under will be good enough to win, but much will depend on what happens with the weather. If it rains as they say it will, then it softens up the course and the scoring may get to 10 or 12 under.
The beauty is that there are only eight shots between the first and last going into the third round, so it sets up for an exciting weekend.
