Two-time NBA champion Stephen Curry is set to make his competitive golf debut later this summer at the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic in California.
The Golden State Warriors guard, who helped his side to play-off victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, has received a sponsor's exemption to play at TPC Stonebrae from August 3-6.
Curry, a two-handicapper, has appeared in a number of PGA Tour pro-am events - including alongside Harold Varner III at this season's Safeway Open.
The 29-year-old called the opportunity a "huge honour" and is relishing the chance to feature in a competitive event, which also benefits the Warriors Community Foundation.
"When I found out I was getting a sponsor exemption, I had a lot of emotions because I love to play golf; it's a passion of mine," Curry said.
"To be able to play against the next and best golf professionals will be a huge honour and huge treat.
"I'm looking forward to hopefully not embarrassing myself, but mostly having a lot of fun and hopefully raising a lot of money for the foundation. I'm going to try to keep it in the fairway."
Curry isn't the first athlete from another sport to appear in the event, with former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice missing the cut in each of his previous three appearances.
Last year's tournament saw Stephan Jaeger become the first player to ever '58 round' in PGA Tour history, with a 12-under 58 in the opening round helping him towards a seven-shot victory.
