Paula Creamer to replace Jessica Korda in USA Solheim Cup side

KINGSBARNS, SCOTLAND - AUGUST 03: Jessica Korda of the United States hits her second shot on the 1st hole during the first round of the Ricoh Women's Brit

Jessica Korda has withdrawn from the USA Solheim Cup team after failing to recover from an arm injury, with Paula Creamer named as her replacement.

Korda was an automatic qualifier for Juli Inkster's side after finishing fifth in the Solheim Cup points list, despite playing with tape on her left forearm throughout this season.

The 24-year-old withdrew mid-tournament through injury at last week's Ricoh Women's British Open, where she posted an opening-round 76, with Korda admitting the problem wouldn't recover in time for this year's event.

In a statement published on social media, Korda said: "Sadly the injury to my forearm is not going to heel (sic) in time for the Solheim Cup.

"Having been forced to withdraw from the British Open was personally difficult but this being a team event representing the USA - I cannot put the team at risk of me not being 100 per cent so unfortunately I have had to make the difficult decision of relinquishing my spot on the team.

"That being said I will certainly work hard to get back in top shape and to be able to compete again soon and simultaneously will become another fan cheering our team on TV."

Inkster then turned to Creamer for her alternative choice, with the 31-year-old having featured in the last six USA sides - including last year's 14.5-13.5 victory in Germany.

"I'm very honoured and ready to wear the red, white and blue for the seventh time," Creamer said.

Inkster added: "I've got a lot of faith and confidence in Paula. She reminds me a lot of myself as far as heart and grit."
