Golf can be a dangerous sport to watch, with one marshal finding out in comical fashion during the opening day of the Solheim Cup.

Record crowds packed in to Des Moines Golf and Country Club in Iowa to watch Team USA dominate the fourballs, where one woman got closer to the action than she expected to.

The home side had already registered one point in the afternoon session when Brittany Lang and Brittany Lincicome moved 4up in their match against Florentyna Parker and Caroline Masson.

Lang then struck her tee shot at the par-five next to the left of the fairway, where a number of marshals were congregated and not expected a ball to be heading in their direction.

One woman only noticed the ball last-minute as it kicked off the surface and headed towards her, where she comically tripped over trying to avoid being struck.
