Juli Inkster's team dominated the opening day and took a 10.5-5.5 in to the Sunday singles at Des Moines Golf and Country Club, leaving them requiring just 3.5 points during the final day to claim a second successive victory.

Europe stayed resolute in the final session and won half of the 12 matches, but were unable to prevent Team USA winning with several matches still to spare.

Salas lost her opening hole against Jodi Ewart Shadoff but responded to have a one-hole lead at the turn, with the American birdieing the 15th to double her advantage.

Shadoff posted a birdie-two at the 17th to take the contest to the last, where she missed a putt for a half-point after Salas squandered her 10-foot birdie try.
