Marc Leishman fired a birdie-filled 64 to extend his lead to three shots heading into the weekend at the BMW Championship.
The Australian struck eight birdies and a sole blemish on another day of low scoring at Conway Farms Golf Club, increasing his lead over nearest challenger Rickie Fowler and Jason Day.
Fowler matched Leishman's 64 to get to 13 under, with Day moving alongside him after firing a hole-in-one at the par-three 17th on his way to a six-under 65.
Patrick Cantlay lies a further three strokes back in fourth spot ahead of Francesco Molinari, while world No 1 Dustin Johnson slipped into a share of 60th after a one-over 72.
Following on from his opening-round 62, Leishman nudged in for a close-range birdie at the first and added a hat-trick of gains from the seventh to reach the turn in 32.
Leishman edged back ahead of the clubhouse leaders with a 15-footer at the 13th and back-to-back birdies at the 15th, before cancelling out a bogey at the 17th with a two-putt gain at the last.
"The game is feeling really good," Leishman said. "Obviously rolling the putts really well, but you have to give yourself the opportunities."
Compatriot Day surged up the leaderboard with four birdies in a five-hole stretch around the turn, with his penultimate-hole ace one of two eagles over the back nine.
Fowler joined Day in a tie for second by posting three birdies and an eagle over the space of five holes from the 13th, as FedExCup leader Jordan Spieth carded a one-under 70 to sit in a share of 10th.
Rory McIlroy, requiring a top-five finish to have any chance of progressing to the season-ending Tour Championship, sits tied-50th following a two-under 69.
