Justin Thomas is pleased with the consistency in his game after building on his career-changing 2017 with a second win of season at the Honda Classic.
Thomas edged past Luke List in the first extra play-off hole at PGA National, having posted a two-under 68 to end the week on eight under.
The 24-year-old had posted top-25 finishes in his previous five starts but had not registered a victory since the CJ Cup in October, with the FedExCup champion delighted to return to the winner's circle.
"This (winning) definitely takes the pressure off me," Thomas said. "I said this to my dad, everyone on my team; I want to be more consistent this year and I want to have more chances to win.
"I was four holes away from probably winning Phoenix, one round away from having a great chance to win in LA and at the Sony (Open) a cold putter away from having a great chance to win that.
"I've been happy with how consistent I've been, but without any wins, I'm constantly being reminded. It's nice to get it a little bit off my back."
Victory saw Thomas leapfrog Open champion Jordan Spieth into world No 3 and close the gap on world No 1 Dustin Johnson, who defends his WGC-Mexico Championship title this week.
Thomas was a five-time winner on his way to winning the FedExCup's $10m jackpot during the 2016-17 campaign, with the American chasing further success over the second half of the season.
"I would love to win five times every season and if that meant my exact stats from last year, I'll take that every single year," Thomas added.
"I feel like when I give myself a chance to win, I feel comfortable and I feel like I can get it done, and that's why this year I wanted to do so.
"I just need to keep my head down and keep the gas pedal down and continue to work hard and continue to do the things that I'm doing in my off-weeks to give myself chances to win."
