Martin Laird holes out from 132 yards for a thrilling eagle at Sawgrass

Martin Laird hit one of the shots of the opening day at The Players Championship as he holed out for eagle from 132 yards at TPC Sawgrass.

Laird, out in the final group of the first round, got off to a mixed start as he birdied the first before he carved his second to the second way right and had to take a penalty drop, eventually running up an ugly seven.

But the powerful Scot got both shots back with one swing of a wedge at the fourth, where his ball pitched a few inches short of the pin, brushed the flagstick and dropped straight into the cup on the second bounce.

It was the 29th eagle at the fourth in the tournament's history, and two-time champion Hal Sutton has two of them!
