Marc Leishman maintained his strong start at the AT&T Byron Nelson to take a one-shot lead in to the weekend in Dallas.
The Australian followed up Thursday's career-best 61 with a five-under 66 in his second round at the Trinity Forest Golf Club, lifting him to 15 under and a shot clear of nearest challenger Aaron Wise.
Beginning on the back nine, Leishman drained a 55-footer at the 12th and added another birdie at the 14th, only to drop a shot at the next after failing to get up-and-down from a greenside bunker.
Leishman followed back-to-back birdies from the first with successive gains from the fourth to set the clubhouse target, as Wise closed the gap with a blemish-free 63.
"It's always pretty hard to back up a really low round with another one," Leishman told Sky Sports. "I've just got to keep doing more of the same and keep giving myself chances."
Brian Gay fired a round-of-the-day 62 to sit in third place, with Jimmy Walker and Eric Axley a further two strokes back in a share of fourth.
Home favourite Jordan Spieth is eight off the pace at the halfway stage after a five-under 66, while Matt Kuchar ended a run of 30 consecutive cuts made on the PGA Tour after a second-round 69.
