Bryson DeChambeau to face Derek Bard in the U.S Amateur final

Bryson DeChambeau is just one victory away from winning a golfing double after reaching the U.S Amateur final.
DeChambeau, who saw off Ireland's Paul Dunne in the quarter-final, defeated compatriot Sean Crocker 4&3 at Olympia Fields to move a step closer to becoming only the fifth player to win the U.S Amateur Championship and the NCAA title in the same year.
"To be in that group of players would be incredible, but I still have work to do," DeChambeau said, who would join Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Ryan Moore as the only players to achieve the double.
Crocker reached the turn two holes behind following consecutive bogeys at the eighth and ninth, before falling four adrift when DeChambeau won three holes in-a-row from the 12th.
A par at the short 15th was enough to seal victory for the Palmer Cup player and book his place in a 36-hole final against Derek Bard, who fought back from a double-bogey at the 11th to beat Japan's Kenta Konishi 3&2.
"I'm the underdog," Bard said of his title matchup. "Bryson has had an incredible career so far. It's going to be tough, it really is. I told my dad, 'I'm going to have to play my best golf to have a chance.'"
As U.S Amateur finalists, DeChambeau and Bard are expected to receive invitations to next year's Masters, while the winner will receive an invite to the 2016 Open Championship at Royal Troon.
