Rickie Fowler makes birdie after an assist from Jordan Spieth

Rickie Fowler took an unconventional route to a third straight birdie during the opening round of the BMW Championship at Conway Farms.
Playing the back nine first and having bounced back from two early bogeys with birdies at 14 and 15, the young American bombed a 369-yard drive down the next fairway and left himself 89 yards to the pin.
His playing partner Jordan Spieth knocked his second to six feet beyond the flag, and Fowler's approach looked like being a little heavy after ball pitched just short of the target and took a big first bounce.
But the second bounce landed on Spieth's ball, with Fowler's spinning back to within a foot of the hole for a tap-in birdie, while Spieth's ball disappeared off the green into the rough.
