Charl Schwartzel continued his recent upturn in form by posting a five-under 67 and moving in to a five-shot lead at the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
The South African, who came in to the season opener at Leopard Creek with his swing feeling "the best it's ever been", carded six birdies during another impressive round as he looks to win the tournament for a fourth time.
After coming back early to birdie the final hole of his opening round, Schwartzel moved alongside overnight leader Christiaan Basson by posting gains at two of his opening three holes.
Back-to-back birdies around the turn at the par-five 18th and the par-four first saw the world No 50 get to double figures, before near-misses at the fourth and fifth were followed by a 25-foot gain at the next.
Schwartzel missed the green off the tee at the seventh on his way to his only dropped shot of the day, but bounced back to finish with a gain at the ninth.
"The last few weeks I've been playing well and it's nice that a few things are falling into place a little better this week," Schwartzel said.
"Since Turkey I've felt like my long game has been really good and I've given myself a lot of chances. That's one part of the game and if I make some putts I can score better."
Richard Sterne and Benjamin Hebert sit part of a four-way tie for second on six under, with Eddie Pepperell part of the group a further stroke back after recovering from a double-bogey at the sixth to post a round-of-the-day 65.
A bogey-free 69 moved David Drysdale in to the top ten with Thomas Aiken and Ben Evans, while Matt Ford dropped shots at two of his final three holes to lie three under.
Defending champion Branden Grace stuttered in to the weekend with a one-over 73, but Louis Oosthuizen has missed the cut after running up a quintuple-bogey at the short seventh on his way to a four-over 75.
