Sergio Garcia was forced to putt using alternative clubs after damaging his flatstick in anger during the third round of the BMW Championship.

The Spaniard sits 14 strokes off the pace after struggling to a four-over 76 on Saturday, where he failed to keep his cool after a less than impressive day on the Crooked Stick greens.

Garcia dropped a shot at the second and threw his putter against his bag in frustration after failing to get up-down for birdie at the fifth.

Worse was still to come for the Ryder Cup player, as he posted a three-putt double-bogey at the eighth before letting his emotions get the better of him again with a missed opportunity at the 12th.

Slamming the putter towards the ground in anger saw it bend the shaft beyond any use, forcing Garcia to see out his remaining holes without the club at his disposal.
