Sergio Garcia claimed a maiden major title at the 74th time of asking at Augusta, delivering a moment of magic at the first extra play-off hole to see off Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose.

The pair started the final round tied for the lead and couldn't be separated on Sunday, with Garcia missing a close-range putt for victory inside 72 holes.

Both players returned to the 18th tee for a sudden death play-off, where Garcia sent his tee shot in to the middle of the fairway as Rose found the pine straw.

The Englishman then punched his ball back in to play and chipped on to the green with his third effort, while Garcia sent his approach in to a great spot on the dancefloor.

Rose then saw 15-footer to save par sneak down the left-side of the hole, giving Garcia two putts from a couple of feet closer for victory and the coveted Green Jacket.
