Zara Tindall's hopes of competing at this summer's Rio Olympics are over.

The former world eventing champion, who won a team medal silver at London 2012, does not feature among a 10-rider list of British nominated entries for Rio.

A final Rio-bound team of four is due to be named on July 5, along with the British showjumping and dressage line-ups.

Tindall, the Queen's granddaughter, achieved the Rio qualifying criteria aboard her London Olympics ride High Kingdom when the horse returned to four-star action at last month's Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials following a lengthy injury lay-off.

But she has missed out - Yorkshireman Oliver Townend is another notable absentee - with only nominated riders able to be put forward to the British Olympic Association for final selection.

The British contingent, though, does include William Fox-Pitt and his 2015 Badminton winner Chilli Morning.

Fox-Pitt was hospitalised following a serious cross-country fall at the World Young Horse Championships in France last October that left him suffering from head trauma. He returned to competitive action earlier this season.

Triple Olympic medallist Tina Cook is also on the British eventing list, together with Fox-Pitt, Laura Collett, Pippa Funnell, Kitty King, Tom McEwen, Gemma Tattersall, Izzy Taylor, Nicola Wilson and Holly Woodhead.

The nominated British showjumping entries, meanwhile, include three of the London 2012 gold medal-winning team - Scott Brash, Nick Skelton and Ben Maher - while all of Britain's Olympic champion dressage team from four years ago reappear in Charlotte Dujardin, Carl Hester and Laura Tomlinson.
