Usain Bolt has been named for three events in Jamaica's Olympic Games squad despite pulling out of their qualification event with a hamstring injury.

Bolt is scheduled to compete in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, all of which he won gold medals in at the 2008 and 2012 Games.

The 29-year-old is one of four athletes in the 59-strong track and field squad to have been given a medical exemption.

Bolt injured his hamstring during the first round of the trials meeting in Kingston earlier this month but said last week he expected to compete in the Anniversary Games in London on July 22.

Countries have until July 18 to name their preliminary squads, although changes can be made up to August 10.

Other athletes receiving exemptions are Olympic 110m hurdles bronze medallist Hansle Parchment, world 200m bronze medallist Elaine Thompson, and 400m hurdler Janeive Russell.

The complete Jamaica squad for Rio numbers 63, with the other four participants coming in swimming (two), diving and gymnastics, where Toni-Ann Williams will become the nation's first Olympic representative.
