Team GB are aiming to win a minimum of 48 medals at this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio - but hope to take home as many as 79.
The squad won 65 medals at the London Olympics - 29 golds, 17 silvers and 19 bronze medals.
The minimum target for the squad in Brazil is 48 medals and the the Paralympic team has been set a range of 113-165 medals in Rio.
If the targets are achieved, Team GB would become the first in history to win more medals in the Olympics after a Games that they hosted.
Liz Nicholl, CEO of UK Sport, said: "Targeting a record-breaking away Olympic Games and a Paralympic medal haul that surpasses that of London 2012 shows the ambition and talent within our high performance system.
"Our aspirational goal to become the first host nation to eclipse our London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic medal haul has proved hugely motivational and we are delighted that these incredibly challenging goals sit within both Olympic and Paralympic medal ranges.
"This shows that our aspirational goal has kept British sport united, motivated and determined to build on those incredible successes in London.
"We have a greater number of sports targeting medals that we did in Beijing in 2008, which shows a high performance system that is growing stronger and more sustainable Games after Games."
The cycling squad has been given the stiffest target of eight medals, with athletics aiming for seven and rowing six.
Boxing, canoeing, swimming, gymnastics and sailing have all been set a target of three medals, with equestrian and triathlon hoping for two.
