Great Britain will send a full women's gymnastics team to next summer's Olympics in Rio after their exceptional display at the World Championships in Glasgow.

Requiring a top-eight finish after the two-day qualification competition, their 227.162-point score both ensured a place in Tuesday's team final and a place at the Games next year.

Becky Downie, Ellie Downie, Ruby Harrold, Claudia Fragapane, Amy Tinkler and Kelly Simm placed third at the SSE Hydro Glasgow to claim Britain's best-ever result in qualifying for an Olympics.

Downie told british-gymnastics.org: "We are incredibly proud to have secured Great Britain place at Rio 2016.

"Coming into this championships, all our focus was on producing the best team results we could and to have placed third - our best ever Olympic qualifying performance - is very special."

Amongst the performances in Glasgow was 15-year-old Tinkler, who marks her senior World Championships debut with an appearance in Thursday's all-around final having qualified seventh.

Harrold qualified and also makes next weekend's bars final, while Commonwealth champion Fragapane will compete in the floor final alongside Downie, who will also take part in the vault final.
