Highlights from day one of the Mosconi Cup as Europe race to a 4-1 lead against the USA at Alexandra Palace

Europe are on course for an eighth successive Mosconi Cup victory after dominating the first day to open up a 4-1 lead on the United States.

Much like their Ryder Cup counterparts, it is Europe who have enjoyed the success over recent years, but USA will need a monumental turnaround if, like this year's golfers, they are to claim a rare victory.

And they will have to do it the hard way as Europe claimed four of the five matches to be played on day one where all 10 players feature in consecutive racks, the hosts winning 5-2 to set the tone for a dominant evening at Alexandra Palace.

Mark Gray and Albin Ouschan sent the 2,000 home fans into raptures by dominating the second match against Shane Van Boening and Rodney Morris, before Niels Feijen underlined his class.

The Dutchman, nicknamed 'The Terminator', has been named MVP at each of the last four Mosconi Cups and he was off  to a winning start with a 5-2 over Mike Dechaine.

Justin Bergman and Skyler Woodward got the States on the board with victory over Jayson Shaw and Darren Appleton before Europe ended the day on a high with Appleton dishing out another defeat to Van Boening.
