We go behind the scenes with Team GB snowboarder and medal hopeful Katie Ormerod ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympics

Snowboarder Katie Ormerod looks every inch a potential medal contender for Team GB at next year’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

The 19-year-old has claimed six podium places already this season and is the only Brit to have won a World Cup Big Air.

Ormerod started skiing at the age of three and began competing as a county level gymnast a year later. Her first experience of snowboarding was at a dry slope in Halifax when she was just five years old.

At 15, the Brighouse boarder became the youngest woman to land a double backflip on a snowboard, and at 16 she became the first female to land a backside double cork 1080.

She is next in action at the Burton US Open in Vail, Colorado, from March 3-5.

Big Air Snowboarding makes it Winter Olympics debut next year and Ormerod is determined to be in contention for a medal.
