Darren Till will headline the UFC’s debut in Liverpool on May 27 but still does not have an opponent confirmed.
The Liverpudlian welterweight's explosive rise to prominence at the end of 2017, after beating veteran Donald Cerrone, has prompted the UFC to visit his home city.
Till exclusively told James Dielhenn about his quest to find an opponent…
Gunnar Nelson
Darren Till: Gunnar and his team are jealous that I'm getting more attention - but they have the biggest star in the world, in Conor McGregor!
I believe this event is not for Gunnar. I'm not running scared - I'm not scared of him or anyone, but he needs to get a win first. He's coming off a loss and I think he needs to have one more fight [before fighting me].
Gunnar wouldn't try to fight with me. He would try to lie on top of me. He's a great grappler but he has no way of beating me. Stylistically for Liverpool, I don't see this fight catching the fans' attention.
The Gunnar fight will come when he gets a win, then comes to try and beat me, but I'll beat him as his game.
Robbie Lawler
The UFC have said they're trying to get someone in the top 10. I asked for Lawler. I'd love to fight against a veteran like him but I know that he's injured.
Darren Till
Jorge Masvidal
Darren Till: A lot of people tweet me about Masvidal. Why doesn't he ever get mentioned? I don't know.
I'd love to fight him. He's a magnificent striker - he brings it, and he's game. Me and him? I'll call him out.
Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson
I've said I want him a million times, and I still want him if he accepts to fight. I don't believe he will.
Darren Till
Rafael dos Anjos
Darren Till: I've asked for him. He might not accept because he's looking to fight for the title. It's maybe a fight [to take place in] Brazil. It's a big risk for him to come to me.
Santiago Ponzinibbio
Darren Till: He beat Mike Perry but I think he's trying to main-event [in South America] so maybe not.
