Alexander Albon made it successive F2 poles after topping qualifying for the Feature Race in Barcelona at the Spanish GP.
The London-born Thai racer gambled on running in the gap between the drivers' first and second runs and despite arguably not having the best track conditions, he had clear road to deliver the lap time.
Albon found over three and a half tenths between his first and second laps, showing not only that DAMS got their tactics spot on, but how impressive his lap was.
Indeed, no one could get within two tenths of the 22-year-old as he watched on nervously from the pitwall, with McLaren junior Nyck de Vries securing a front row start right at the end of qualifying.
Luca Ghiotto was third quickest for Campos, ahead of ART's British pairing of Mercedes' George Russell and Renault's Jack Aitken.
Nicholas Latifi in the second DAMS also ran in the gap and looked on course for a front row start until the final seconds, when he was shunted down to sixth.
Championship leader Lando Norris was only eighth quickest for Carlin, with his team-mate Sergio Sette Camara down in 14th after technical problems.
Haas junior Santino Ferrucci brought up the rear after spinning out of the session and hitting the wall at Turn Nine.
The Feature Race is live on Sky Sports F1 at 3:50pm following F1 qualifying in Barcelona.
