First victory in 45 races for the Netherlands

The Netherlands have scored their first A1GP victory in 45 races after Jeroen Bleekemolen won the Sprint Race at Kyalami. Bleekemolen drove a faultless race around the 2.65-mile track to win by 4.407-seconds from Portugal's Filipe Albuquerque. Switzerland's Neel Jani made a good start to move up to second place off the line. However, the defending champion lost vital time trying to manoeuvre round Malaysia's car, which had pitted in front of him at the mandatory stop. Albuquerque pitted one lap later than both the Dutch and Swiss cars and rejoined ahead of the delayed Jani. Series leader Adam Carroll finished fourth for Ireland, ahead of Monaco's Clivio Piccione, who also briefly led prior to pitting at the end of lap six. Piccione had used an extra lap on track to get the jump on Ireland, but Carroll retook the position shortly before the chequered flag. Meanwhile, Great Britain's Danny Watts retired at the start of lap 10, his car ending up in the gravel after a collision on the start-finish straight with Brazil's Felipe Guimaraes.
