Ama Agbeze will captain England for the first time after the squad for next month's Netball Europe was announced on Tuesday.

The Loughborough Lightning star, among the names nominated for the Sky Sports Vitality Superleague Player of the season, will lead the team, taking over from Manchester Thunder captain Sara Bayman.

Hertfordshire Mavericks Ella Clark, Thunder's Ellie Cardwell and Team Northumbria's Leah Kennedy have all been called up for the first time for the Championship Section of the tournament.

Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland will provide the opposition for Tracey Neville's side at the tournament which will take place between May 12-15 at University of Northumbria

There will also be a Challenge Section of Netball Europe in which Gibraltar, Ireland, Israel, Malta, Switzerland plus teams from Grenada and USA will compete.

England squad: Helen Housby, Ella Clark, Kadeen Corbin, Ellie Cardwell, Laura Malcolm (VC), Sophia Candappa, Hannah Joseph, Natalie Haythornthwaite, Jodie Gibson, Ama Agbeze (C), Sam Cook, Leah Kennedy.
