Hertfordshire Mavericks have confirmed the signing of Sasha Corbin, who will return as captain after playing in New Zealand.

The 29-year-old England international, part of the Roses squad for the recent Quad Series and Taini Jamison Trophy, is equally comfortable at centre or wing attack and will bring bags of experience to the talented Mavericks squad.

Hertfordshire missed out on the top four in the Vitality Superleague last season but saw a host of young players make their mark, and they will now have Corbin as their captain.

She played for Mavericks for five seasons and captained the squad between 2013-15 before moving to Loughborough Lightning, where she suffered a cruciate knee injury which cut short her season.

Corbin, who will not feature in the upcoming Fast5 Championship, made her return in New Zealand where she played for ANZ Championship franchise Northern Mystics and now she reunites with the team she knows best of all.

"I can't wait to be suiting back up in the black and purple next season," said Corbin, who has won four Superleague titles and has more than 50 Roses caps to her name.

"Mavericks is a club that's close to my heart, giving me my first start as a young teen and continuing my development as a player after my university studies."

"After overcoming my ACL injury, travelling and having a fantastic life and netball experience in New Zealand last season, I am truly looking forward to being settled at home, bringing my experience, growing as an athlete and person in a great environment with an exciting new team."

Mavericks director of netball Kat Ratnapala is delighted to bring Corbin's quality and mentality to her youthful squad.

"I'm really excited to welcome Sasha back into the Mavericks family, she is a phenomenal athlete and person and I'm really looking forward to getting her back in black and purple for the forthcoming season," Ratnapala said.

"Sasha is a true Mavericks and embodies everything we stand for - flair, excitement, high-level skill and the unexpected - keeping fans and opposition on their toes.

"She is a class act and has fantastic leadership qualities and experience to bring to the squad this season."

Sasha's sister Kadeen is also returning to the Superleague this year having confirmed a move to Team Bath.
