Wasps Netball kept up perfect Vitality Superleague record as they demolished Team Northumbria at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday night.

Tamsin Greenway's side kept up their unbeaten start to the season, making it six straight victories after a thumping 74-38 victory over winless Team Northumbria.

They followed up an impressive win last time out against last year's runners-up Loughborough Lightning with their biggest win of the season to stay top of the table as they prepare for another home game against West Midlands rivals Severn Stars on Monday evening.

"We've had a perfect start to the season and I'm gutted there's a break coming up because the momentum is with us at the moment," Greenway told the official Wasps Netball website.

"It'll be a tough game on Monday - we didn't have a massive lead against Stars when we played them last time. It's a quick turnaround for the legs but I'm hoping the momentum will stick with us."

Also on Saturday, Celtic Dragons beat Severn Stars 49-40 leaving the visitors still searching for their first win with a daunting trip to leaders Wasps to come.

Head coach Sam Bird admitted she was disappointed with her side's performance, and says the players must show more discipline against Wasps.

"I think this defeat will hit hard," she said. "The players are going to have to reflect on their own performances today. They're really disappointed.

"We're able to play well for half the game, but when we get three or four in the ascendancy we're not disciplined to then push on.

"Every time we got a run of three or four, that would then be followed by three or four errors. We're just not able to steal a march on these teams because of our own lack of discipline.

"It's a huge game on Monday."

benecosMavericks edged past Scottish outfit UWS Sirens 46-44 to stay in third place with just one defeat to their name so far this season.

Vitality Superleague is back on your screens next Friday night when UWS Sirens host Severn Stars, with live coverage on Sky Sports Mix, which you can find on channel 287, and is free for all Sky customers, from 7.15pm.
