High winds force more event postponements at Winter Olympics

Last Updated: 14/02/18 9:29am

High winds were again problematic at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on Wednesday.

The women's slalom at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre was postponed on Wednesday morning and the scheduled women's individual biathlon event at Alpensia has been put back a day to Thursday.

Strong gusts at the coastal Gangneung Olympic Park have led to outdoor activities ceasing for the day, but competition in ice hockey, curling, figure skating and speed-skating has not been affected and spectators are still attending.

The postponement of the women's slalom, which will now take place on Friday, meant three of the four Alpine events scheduled so far have not taken place on their original date.
