Johanna Konta on Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year shortlist

Johanna Konta and Tammy Beaumont are among the nominees for Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year.

As well as tennis star Konta and England cricketer Beaumont, this year's shortlist includes track cyclist Elinor Barker, short-track speed skater Elise Christie, England footballer Jodie Taylor and taekwondo world champion Bianca Walkden.

The awards - which are in association with Vitality - are celebrating their 30th year and have led the way in recognising and celebrating the outstanding contribution to sport made by elite athletes, coaches, administrators, community volunteers and inspirational women.

Previous winners of the award include Laura Kenny - who won in 2016 - as well as Sally Gunnell, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Dame Kelly Holmes and Zara Phillips.

This year Konta reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon and rose to seventh in the world rankings. Beaumont helped England win a home cricket World Cup and was named Player of the Tournament after topping the runs list with 410 runs. Barker on the other hand claimed two silvers and a gold at the Track Cycling World Championships in April.

Taylor was named England Player of the Year after finishing Euro 2017 this summer as the Golden Boot winner and becoming only the third English footballer to score a hat-trick at a major tournament. Walkden made British taekwondo history by defending her heavyweight title at the WTF World Championships.

Other awards on the night will go to the Young Sportswoman of the Year, the Vitality Team of the Year and the Disabled Sportswoman of the Year as well as The Helen Rollason Award for Inspiration and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Community Award will also be announced, which will honour an individual who has actively engaged different groups of people within their community through sport. A two-week public vote for the Community Award commences on Sunday October 1.

The shortlist for Young Sportswoman of the Year is Freya Anderson (swimming), Ellie Downie (artistic gymnastics), Sammi Kinghorn (para-athletics) and Millie Knight (para-skiing).

The shortlist for the Vitality Team of the Year award will be announced on Tuesday October 3 on SportsWomen on Sky Sports News at 11.30am.

The shortlist for Disabled Sportswoman of the Year is Hannah Cockroft (athletics), Jeanette Chippington (canoeing), Sophie Hahn (athletics) and Emma Wiggs (canoeing).

The community award is for individuals who have actively engaged with different groups of people within their community through sport and the shortlist is Carlton Bolling College girls' team (cricket), Ann Davis (Boccia), Margaret Palmer (netball) and Rashida Salloo (rounders).

The awards ceremony will be broadcast on Thursday October 26th live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Action and Sky Sports Mix, a channel available to all Sky TV customers (8pm to 9.30pm)
