A review of the action from Market Rasen

A round-up of the pick of the action from Market Rasen where Oscar Rock booked his place for the Paddy Power Gold Cup.
Malcolm Jefferson is targeting the Paddy Power Gold Cup for Oscar Rock after the seven-year-old made a successful reappearance in the Racing FX Prelude Chase Handicap at Market Rasen.
The 4-1 joint-favourite, who was unlucky to fall three out in Ayr's champion novice chase when last seen in April, travelled well throughout.
Valco De Touzaine made the running in the near two-and-three-quarter mile contest to three out where Claret Cloak led briefly.
He hit that obstacle when Oscar Rock was upsides and going ominously well for Brian Hughes.
Jefferson's charge jumped the last two fences soundly to go on and score by three and a quarter lengths. Cloud Creeper was five lengths behind Claret Cloak in third place.
Oscar Rock earned a quote of 20-1 for the Paddy Power Gold Cup with the sponsors for the Cheltenham feature on November 14.
"He travelled well and jumped well. He was very unlucky at Ayr in the spring," Jefferson said.
"He's a nice horse and he likes this sort of ground and I think this is his trip.
"He did everything right, but a few of my horses went to Perth, looked like winning and didn't. I wondered if he'd do the same, but he doesn't need a lot of work.
"Hopefully the handicapper won't murder him. They can stop horses very quickly. All being well he might go straight for the Paddy Power now.
"He likes a good month between his races and we start October shortly, but I think he does like decent ground. I wouldn't want it to be a bog."
First-year trainer Stuart Edmunds enjoyed a notable success when Cloonacool (11-2) took the Racing FX Prelude Hurdle Handicap by two lengths from Queen Alphabet in the hands of Paddy Brennan.
Edmunds, formerly assistant to the late Renee Robeson, took over the reins of her stables near Milton Keynes after her death in January.
He told Channel 4 Racing: "We'll have another go over hurdles. The plan was to go novice chasing, but Paddy tells me he'll win another hurdle race.
"Renee sadly died in January. I've been there for 30 years and am carrying on where she left off. We've got 15 horses, not too many, so we'll see how we go."
Danny Cook, the rider of fifth-placed Manhattan Swing, was banned for one day (October 10) for allowing his mount to break into a canter before the starter dropped his flag.
Cook picked up a further two days (October 11 and 12) for using his whip above the permitted level when steering Viens Chercher (7-4) to victory by a nose in the Racing FX Online Novices' Hurdle.
