Bryan Cooper remains optimistic of being fit for the seven-day Galway Festival that starts next Monday despite dislocating his thumb in a fall at Kilbeggan on Friday evening.
Cooper was partnering the Gordon Elliott-trained Castletown Bridge in the Best Dressed Lady Competition At Kilbeggan Races On 8th August Handicap Hurdle when he was brought down in a nasty incident involving three horses.
As the field raced on towards the second flight, Star Of Angels slipped up when rounding a bend, bringing down both Castletown Bridge and Persian Wind.
"I'm hopeful I'll be fine for Galway and I'm looking forward to the week," said Cooper, retained jockey to Gigginstown House Stud, who are expected to have a strong team at Ballybrit.
