Vazirabad maintained his hot streak with a spirited victory in the Prix Royal-Oak at Saint-Cloud.

Trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre and patiently ridden by Christophe Soumillon, the Aga Khan-owned three-year-old eventually came out on top after a lengthy tussle with Siljan's Saga to land his fifth race on the spin - and his first at Group One level.

Laudable veteran Cirrus Des Aigles was always close to the pace and stuck on for fourth place, though admittedly well beaten, in the hands of Frankie Dettori.

The front-running Mille Et Mille, winner of the Prix du Cadran on Arc weekend, finished third, but the Hughie Morrison-trained Fun Mac was never really a factor.
