Patient game with Mister Trader

Mister Trader, second to Caravaggio in the Marble Hill Stakes back in May, is likely to be put away until next season.

After a four-and-a-half-length win on his debut, the Hellvelyn colt gave Aidan O'Brien's 2000 Guineas favourite more to think about than most have managed this season in Listed company at the Curragh.

He was then sent off favourite for the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot but hated the soft ground and was allowed to coast home once his chance had gone.

A setback has prevented him from running since.

"He's had a little problem which has just held him up and because we think so much of him we won't rush him back if he's not ready," said trainer Darren Bunyan.

"I'm lucky that his owner Abdullah Saeed Al Naboodah is a very understanding man and hasn't put me under any pressure.

"He looked good early on and I'll treat him like the good horse he is.

"He's likely to start off back in a Listed race somewhere I'd have thought but he could run in any of those open-aged sprints.

"The problem was just something at home, nothing happened at Ascot - that was just down to the ground and we put a line through it.

"Pat (Smullen) minded him so he didn't have a bad experience and we're looking forward to next year with him."
