Ed Dunlop roughs Red Verdon off for the winter

Red Verdon will not run again this season after he was forced to miss the St Leger at Doncaster earlier this month.
Trainer Ed Dunlop has decided to draw stumps with the three-year-old, who made giant strides as he graduated from handicapper to Group One performer.
He performed creditably in both the English and Irish Derbies before finishing second in the Grand Prix de Paris at Saint-Cloud in July on what proved to be his final start of 2016.
"He won't run again this year. He got very unhealthy when they were all unhealthy," said the Newmarket trainer.
"We tried to get him back for the St Leger but we just didn't get there in time. He has had plenty of racing at three (years old) this year.
"He has ran in three Group One races and was only beaten a length and half in one of them in France.
"He is an improving horse that has come from a rating of 76 to 114.
"If they all did that it would be easy."
