Jockey Josephine Gordon is set to be crowned Champion Apprentice on Saturday and she told Sky Sports News what it took to get there.
Gordon has ridden 48 winners over the course of the Championship as well as 66 winners in 2016, putting her four winners clear of her nearest rival and last year's champion Tom Marquand.
The 23-year-old had to wait 18 months between her first and second race wins and is to become the first female winner since Amy Ryan in 2012.
Gordon gave her advice on what it takes to be successful as a jockey: "Its getting you're name out there and riding winners as well.
"Not just riding the odd winner here and there but riding winners at least once a week which gets you noticed."
"I think you just have to be thick skinned and keep working towards it and its always what i wanted to do so i never gave up."
