Coologue could be stepped up in both class and trip for next month's Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury.
The prestigious Grade Three handicap on November 26 is one of two races, along with the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle on the same day, under consideration for the seven-year-old.
Having been pulled up on his final start last season at Aintree, the Charlie Longsdon-trained gelding gained a third success of his career on his return to action at Cheltenham on Saturday.
Longsdon said: "I was very pleased with Coologue on Saturday. His battling spirit impressed me.
"He managed to keep in a straight line as, in seasons gone by, he used to hang left but he has had a wind operation over the summer.
"We will look at either the Hennessy or the Rehearsal with him. The Hennessy might be a tall order and the Rehearsal the slightly easier option, but he is an improving horse.
"He probably wants better ground as opposed to deep winter ground.
"Those three-mile chase races take a lot out of horses so we will give him time between his races."
