Connections of Coeur Blimey are "desperate" to run the potentially exciting five-year-old at Sandown this week.

Sue Gardner's inmate made a big impression at Ascot last December when he claimed the scalp of subsequent Champion Bumper winner Ballyandy.

He could not quite replicate that run at the Cheltenham and Punchestown festivals, but Coeur Blimey is now set to have a first competitive try over hurdles.

He hold two entries at the Esher circuit, but preference is for the two-and-a-half-mile Grade Two Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle on Friday.

Regular jockey Lucy Gardner, the Devon trainer's daughter, said: "We could do with some more rain, but we are desperate to run him.

"He's also in a two-mile novice on Saturday, but the ground would probably have to be really soft for him to go for that race, which I don't think it will be."
