This afternoon's jumps fixture at Haydock has been abandoned due to a frozen track but Taunton goes ahead as planned.

Course officials at Haydock brought forward their intended 7.30am inspection after overnight temperatures once again plummeted.

And with the Merseyside circuit still "frozen in places", clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright was left with no alternative but to draw stumps.

Haydock was due to stage an appealing seven-race card, with Buveur D'Air the headline act in a three-runner novice chase over two miles and three furlongs.

However, today's fixture at Taunton goes ahead as scheduled following a 10am course inspection.

Jason Loosemore told At The Races: "Racing goes ahead, which is great news.

"It stayed colder for longer than forecast and the forecasters were saying the temperature wasn't going to reach plus figures until a little bit later which set a few alarm bells ringing.
