Saeed bin Suroor could aim Wadi Al Hattawi at the Melbourne Cup after his easy victory at Newmarket.

Just seven days after being pulled up in the Ebor at York after two furlongs, the five-year-old turned a competitive handicap into a procession off top weight.

Put up 8lb by the handicapper to a mark of 113, the Godolphin trainer would prefer to keep him in handicaps if possible.

"He won really well and I was very pleased with him," said Bin Suroor.

"At York he became unhappy in the stalls and all he basically did was canter for two furlongs. When we got him home we could find nothing wrong so we were happy to run him just a week later.

"We'll look for another handicap in about two weeks and keep his options open for the future.

"If there is a Group or Listed race that we thinks suits, he might run, but I'm looking for a handicap.
