England head coach Wayne Bennett has been backed to carry on in his dual roles by Brisbane Broncos chief executive Paul White.

Bennett signed a two-year contract on February 2 but will remain as Broncos boss at least until 2017.

The 66-year-old's spell with England takes in the 2016 Four Nations Series and next year's World Cup.

Bennett, who is already in his second spell with the Broncos, could yet sign a new deal with the NRL side, with Brisbane's Courier-Mail reporting he is close to signing a two-year extension that will keep him with the Queensland club at least until the end of 2019.

White has no doubts Bennett can continue in both roles, however, and was keen to emphasise the advantages of his head coach also holding another high-profile role.

"I'm certainly very comfortable with Wayne and where he is at now," White told the Courier-Mail.

"People ask me about the England job and I think that is a great thing for him.
