Dane Chisholm has joined Hull Kingston Rovers on loan from the Canterbury Bulldogs until the end of the Super League season.

The Australian born half-back has arrived at the KC Lightstream Stadium as cover for injured club captain Terry Campese, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Chisholm, who has scored three tries for France in four internationals, will face competition for a place from Australians Albert Kelly and Maurice Blair.

Hull KR’s head coach Chris Chester expects the versatile 25-year-old to provide cover across the whole of the back division.

“We are delighted to be able to bring in Dane at this stage of the season and we’re looking forward to having him on board,” Chester said.

“He’s been really impressive for Canterbury’s reserve grade side this year and he’s an exciting player to watch. As well has having plenty of experience at playing in the halves, he’s got blistering pace and he’s a great finisher too, so he gives us plenty of options.

“Canterbury have re-signed Dane for next season, a sign of their high regard for the player, but a move to us for the rest of this year is a deal that suits all parties. It will allow Dane to show what he can do in the first team and I know he’s really excited about playing in Super League and for Hull Kingston Rovers.”

Chisholm previously enjoyed spells at the Melbourne Storm, Wests Tigers and Manly Sea Eagles and will join up with his new team-mates later this week.

But one player who will not be there to welcome him is utility Connor Robinson, who has been released by Rovers and signed for Halifax. Robinson had been playing for the Championship side on a dual registration deal.

Hull KR are currently two points off the top eight in the Super League table with just two games to go in the regular season. The Robins face local rivals Hull FC on Friday night in a match that looks set to break the home side’s previous derby attendance record.
