Huddersfield Giants fined for breaching concussion rules

Huddersfield have been fined £1,000 by the Rugby Football League for breaching its rules on concussion.

The Giants were punished for not taking off hooker Luke Robinson in their Super League match against Castleford last month after he showed signs of concussion.

Under the RFL operational rules, any player diagnosed with or showing signs or symptoms of concussion must be removed from the field of play for assessment.

The laws were amended at the start of the 2015 season.

The change gave teams a free interchange in the event of a player suffering an injury that requires a pitchside concussion assessment to "remove any sub-conscious pressure on medical staff to not be over-cautious in removing a player from the field".
