Wales have called Caerphilly-born prop Morgan Evans into their European Championship squad as a replacement for the injured Ben Flower.

Evans, 23, made his full Wales debut last year after impressing for South Wales Scorpions and Wales Students. He is currently at Coventry Bears.

Wales coach John Kear said: "Morgan played last year for us and acquitted himself well.

"Since then he's had a year of development with Coventry Bears and he, along all other Welsh-qualified players, has been monitored all year.

"His call-up is warranted and he's always on our stand-by list. Now he's back in the squad and deservedly so."

Evans will join the Wales squad ahead of Sunday's match against Keighley at Cougar Park, which will raise funds for the family of the late Danny Jones, and their European Championship fixture against France on Friday week at Cardiff Arms Park.

Wigan forward Flower pulled out of the squad because of a knee injury ahead of their opening game against Scotland which they won 18-12 in Wrexham.
