Sydney Roosters' preparations for the World Club Series have been overshadowed by an off-field incident involving New South Wales half-back Mitchell Pearce.
The NRL has asked the Roosters, who will take on St Helens at Langtree Park on February 19, for a report into an incident which occurred at an Australia Day house party on Tuesday.
The governing body in Australia acted after a video was aired on Channel 9 which appears to show an intoxicated Pearce trying to kiss a woman before embarking on a series of lewd acts.
An NRL spokesman said the league's integrity unit was aware of the matter and has asked the Roosters to investigate.
"The integrity unit will work with the Roosters to ensure the matter is dealt with appropriately," the spokesman said.
In a statement, the Roosters said: "The club will conduct an internal investigation and will be making no further comment at this time."
Pearce is not the first high-profile NRL player to be caught up in an alcohol-related controversy.
Former Roosters and Canberra winger Joel Monaghan quit the NRL after his Mad Monday celebrations in 2010 went wrong and he subsequently resurrected his career in Super League with Warrington before moving to Castleford at the end of last season.
