Hull expect to be without new signing Mahe Fonua for up to six weeks after he injured a knee on his Super League debut.

The former Melbourne Storm winger was hurt during Hull's 42-20 win over Salford last Friday and will undergo surgery.

"The news is positive," said coach Lee Radford said.

"He had a scan (on Wednesday night) and the experts think he'll only be out for a month or so, probably about four to six weeks, so that is really good news for the lad.

"He'll have a routine operation to sort it out and [will go] straight into rehab with our medical team who'll manage him back to fitness over the coming weeks."

Because of the injury to Fonua, Hull called off Curtis Naughton's proposed loan move to Huddersfield and Radford can also call on Steve Michaels and Callum Lancaster to plug the gap.
