Huddersfield's goalkicking half-back Jamie Ellis has committed his future to the Giants by signing a new contract taking him to the end of 2019.

The 26-year-old former St Helens player has made 33 appearances for Huddersfield since joining them from Castleford in 2015.

After making his comeback from a shoulder injury a week ago, he is in coach Paul Anderson's squad for Sunday's game against St Helens in Newcastle.

Anderson said: "We have always rewarded players who have worked hard and done well for us by extending their stays with us.

"We had an option on him for next year which we immediately exercised when due and I was very happy then when we added a couple more years onto it. The contract gives Jamie stability and security at a time which should coincide with his best years."

Ellis added: "It was an easy decision for me to stay on when the opportunity arose. I have been to a few clubs but Huddersfield is where I now call home and I have settled nearby.
