Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash will wait until the club's Super League status is settled before deciding on his future.

The club were docked six points following their breach of the league's salary cap and finished 10th in the regular season, meaning they now face seven matches in the Qualifiers to secure safety.

Koukash, 57, first considered his position when the club's appeal against the points deduction was turned down but will hold off on making a final decision until the end of the season.

"The immediate future is we just need to concentrate on ensuring we've got Super League status," he told BBC Radio.

"As for me, I'm absolutely tired physically, mentally and emotionally and I just want to wait until the end of the year.

"My family suffered recently and I just need that time to think it over. I'll decide at the end of the season what I will do."

Koukash insisted he would only sell to Salford's fan-base and would not let another owner come into the AJ Bell Stadium.

"I've always said I'm a custodian of the club and it will always belong to the fans," he added.

Luke Burgess is on his way back to Super League after signing for Salford.

"I will never sell the club onto another owner. I will put in place fan ownership, the season ticket holders will become the shareholders and they will elect a president, chairman and board."
