Wigan's Ben Flower has been charged with a Grade C striking offence following his sending-off against Warrington on Friday.
Flower saw red for a late tackle on the Wolves' Declan Patton in the 56th minute of his side's 35-28 Super League Super 8s win.
The Wales prop is accused of recklessly catching Patton with his elbow or forearm, and if proven Grade C offences normally carry a suspension of two to three weeks.
The maximum penalty would sideline Flower for the rest of Wigan's season.
Two other Super League players have been charged in the wake of the weekend's action: Kevin Brown of Widnes and St Helens' Joe Greenwood.
Brown was sent off and Greenwood sin-binned for their parts in a brawl that also led to the dismissal of Widnes' Patrick Ah Van towards the end of St Helens' 21-8 win.
Both are charged with Grade A punching offences carrying the maximum punishment of a week's suspension, and Greenwood has the option of entering an early guilty plea.
