Daryl Powell rubbished claims Denny Solomona will be leaving Castleford, after the winger scored a hat-trick in the Tigers' 40-26 win over Widnes.

The 22-year-old New Zealand-born winger finished the season with 42 tries in 29 games thanks to a seventh hat-trick of the year. His latest treble took him to 40 Super League tries for the season, two more than the previous best set by Bradford's Lesley Vainikolo and Leeds' Danny McGuire.

Such scoring feats has seen the former London Broncos favourite linked with a move away from the Jungle, but Powell said the Man of Steel nominee is going nowhere.

"Denny has got a two-year contract," said Powell. "There is all sorts of speculation around at the moment, but he is a Castleford player and that's as much as I know.

"However, he keeps scoring tries doesn't he? The one he scored out of nothing from their kick at the end of the first half, there are not too many players who would have scored that.

"As soon as they kicked the ball I knew it was a try to us because of his ability to get on the end of things.

"The two Lukes, Gale and Dorn, are probably due a couple of beers from Denny though because they have given him so many opportunities. If you play on the wing at this club you are going to score tries."

Vikings coach Denis Betts weighed in with praise after his side fell to another Solomona hat-trick.

"I thought he was pretty average today but he scores a hat-trick," said Betts.

"He does what he is supposed to do. But I have seen him score tries this year I don't think I have seen anyone score.

"It is hard to compare across the ages but it is hard through the British game to find anyone who has had a year like he has.

"Vainikolo was a different kind of winger and Martin Offiah was by far the best winger this country has ever produced. But Denny Solomona has scored tries this year that shouldn't have been scored."

Powell also paid tribute to retiring Australian full-back Dorn who marked his farewell appearance with the first of the home side's seven touch downs.

"I can't speak highly enough of Dorny in what he has added to the team, to the club, his leadership and his attacking play in particular is sublime," he said.

"It was fitting then we were able to win, he had a hand in some of the points and he scored a try."
