New Widnes signing Rangi Chase says he is looking forward to getting some more game time with the Vikings.

The New Zealand-born back has made just a handful of appearances this season for Castleford who have allowed the 31-year-old to take up the offer of a loan deal on Merseyside.

Chase has agreed a deal with Widnes until the end of the season and, speaking ahead of Magic Weekend in Newcastle, he told Sky Sports News HQ: "It all happened very quickly.

"I was not getting any game time with Castleford. Widnes gave me an opportunity and I'm grateful to be here.

"I've had three training sessions here. You've got to move on and I'm positive about the challenge ahead.

"I like the way Widnes play, so I'll get my hands on the ball a lot and can't wait to express myself on the field.

"Just want to fit in and get familiar with the players. The opportunity came because they're lacking half-backs and that's good for me."

And Chase does not feel any resentment towards the Tigers for allowing him to take up the short-term deal: "The people who were starting in front of me [at Castleford] were doing well.

"They've got good young talent coming through, so no bad feelings."
